Redemption Seminary is explicitly a Christian faith-based ministry that fosters adult learning and understanding of the Bible, theology, and the practice of applying biblical truths and wisdom in diverse ministries.

Redemption’s faith position is fully explained in the institution's Statement of Faith, Values, and Commitments section of the Student Handbook. This faith position can be summarized by the following doctrinal positions and the school’s core values derived from them.

The Defining Doctrines of
Redemption Seminary

Doctrine of God and the Church

Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God the Father, almighty, maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was born from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary,
who suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into the grave. On the third day, he rose from the dead,
he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty,
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
And in the Holy Spirit;
the holy catholic* Church, the communion of the saints,
the forgiveness of sins;
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

*The word, catholic (lowercase), is an older English term used in traditional translations of the Apostle's Creed, which refers to the broad or universal church, the body of Christ (without reference to the Roman Catholic Church).

Doctrine of Scripture

Redemption Seminary recognizes the Bible as holy and authoritatively inspired (1 Tim. 3:16). It recognizes the validity of many historical methods of interpretation that affirm the inspiration of the Bible and the intentions of its authors.

Doctrine of Prayer

Redemption Seminary recognizes the privilege and power the Lord has granted his people through prayer. Every mentor and employee must be willing and able to come before the Lord in prayer, offering praise, thanks, confession, and petitions for themselves, the school, and others.

Doctrine of Mankind

Redemption Seminary’s doctrine of scripture affirms Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Thus, the human race is set apart from the rest of creation as holy. This is the basis for treating all people with honor, dignity, and respect.

Summary of Religious Freedom

Redemption Seminary recognizes various theological interpretations of the Bible throughout history and the broad church. It supports the free exercise of religious inquiry within the service, honor, and faith in the triune Christian God. Redemption Seminary doesn't hold specific theological, social, or political positions outside of the Statement of Faith and the resultant issues mentioned in the student handbook. Redemption Seminary does not attempt to adjudicate, support, or suppress specific interpretations and theological positions within the Christian faith tradition. It holds and protects its identity with a historical statement of the Christian faith.

Redemption Seminary fosters a community with theological freedom where there is no obligation for students, mentors, or lecture professors to agree on particular issues with each other, but rather come to an understanding of each other's positions.

Redemption Seminary holds the Christian faith as sacred and exists as a religious institution with an evangelistic mission that offers opportunities for everyone who shares this faith to grow in spirit, truth, and a believing understanding of the Bible.
